First Cataract Surgery a Huge Success

Jane Keyser Hospital invited specialist Dr M Booysen to the hospital in order to perform cataract surgery on a patient. In cataract surgery, the lens inside your eye that has become cloudy is removed and replaced with an artificial lens (called an intra-ocular lens, or IOL) to restore clear vision.

The procedure typically is performed on an outpatient basis and does not require an overnight stay in a hospital or other care facility. The procedure was completed on the 26th of May and was a huge success. We have a very happy patient as well as specialist, doctors and nurses.
